A CLEAR PLAN FOR EVERY MEAL
Create a one-day wet cat food schedule with serving times, optional equal portions and reminders to remove leftovers.
A timetable cannot verify food safety. This tool does not measure temperature, approve unattended storage or send reminders to your phone.
Plan your meals
Use local clock times. The number of meals and total food amount should fit your cat’s existing feeding plan.
YOUR MEAL TIMELINE
Serving and cleanup times
Choose your first meal and time window to build a schedule.
| Meal | Serve | Portion | Remove leftovers |
|---|
A removal reminder falls after the next meal starts. Review the schedule; do not top up old food with a fresh portion.
A person must handle cleanup. A rotating lid or closed compartment does not remove or refrigerate leftovers. Program your feeder separately and confirm its actual operation before relying on it.
Times crossing midnight are marked “next day.” This plan uses clock arithmetic, not dates, time zones or daylight-saving adjustments. It is not a repeating schedule.
How to plan wet cat food meals
Choose a first serving time, the number of meals and the interval between the first and last meal. The planner divides that interval evenly. It adds your chosen cleanup reminder to each serving time. If you enter an existing total food amount, it divides that amount equally between the meals.
Example: three meals between 08:00 and 18:00
With three meals across ten hours, serving times are 08:00, 13:00 and 18:00. A chosen 30-minute reminder gives cleanup times of 08:30, 13:30 and 18:30. An entered total of 180 g would produce three 60 g portions. These numbers illustrate arithmetic; they are not a diet or storage recommendation.
Can wet food stay in an automatic feeder all day?
This planner cannot establish that. Food instructions, exact feeder design, loading conditions, temperature and how long food has already been outside appropriate storage all matter. Choosing ice packs or active cooling does not extend a food-safety deadline in this tool. Check the exact model’s instructions and arrange a reliable backup.
Why leftover reminders are separate from storage
Time before a meal opens still matters. A reminder starts at the listed serving time only for organizational purposes; it does not reset previous exposure. Food that has already been held improperly does not become safe when a new timer starts.
Purina’s US storage guidance says to discard wet food remaining in a bowl for more than an hour. This planner allows reminders no longer than 60 minutes as a conservative scheduling limit, not a universal safe allowance. Your specific food or conditions may require a shorter interval. Read Purina’s cat food storage guidance.
Refrigeration and cooled feeders are different
FDA guidance calls for promptly refrigerating or discarding unused canned and pouched pet food and keeping the refrigerator at 40°F or below. An appliance described as “cooling” should not automatically be treated as a refrigerator. This planner neither monitors temperature nor assesses food safety. Read FDA pet food storage guidance.
Before using a feeder schedule
- Check food compatibility, compartment capacity and the exact manufacturer’s preparation and cleaning instructions.
- Confirm whether a compartment is immediately accessible and whether used compartments can be accessed again.
- Check the feeder’s clock and observe a complete cycle while you are home.
- Arrange someone to remove leftovers and respond if cooling, power or the mechanism fails.
- Keep unused portions appropriately refrigerated; do not preload an uncooled bowl for later meals.
Wet-food planner questions
Does the planner set my feeder or send notifications?
No. It displays a plan only. Enter the times into your feeder or personal reminder system yourself, and verify them. The browser does not need to remain open once you have recorded the schedule.
How many grams should I feed my cat?
This tool does not choose that amount. Use an appropriate existing feeding plan based on the food and your cat’s needs; ask your veterinarian when you need individual guidance. Optional grams here are only divided between the meals you selected.
Does the cooling option make a schedule safe?
No. It displays a storage-review notice. The tool has no sensor data, model-specific validation or information about previous handling, so it never approves extended storage.
Can I use this for two cats?
Build a separate plan for each cat when they have different portions or needs. The planner does not manage selective access or prevent food stealing.
What happens when a meal crosses midnight?
The time is marked “next day.” No calendar date is attached. Check dates and clock changes when programming a device.
Is this for raw food?
No. This planner’s supporting guidance concerns commercially prepared canned or pouched wet food. It does not provide a raw-food handling plan.
Methodology
Meal interval equals the selected hours divided by one less than the number of meals. Times round to the nearest minute; duplicate times are rejected. One meal uses a zero-hour span. Portion weights round to one decimal for display. All calculations remain in this browser; no nutritional prescription, brand ranking or affiliate preference is included.
